UP records hottest day of the year, max temp above 45 degrees Celsius at several places

LUCKNOW: Tuesday became the hottest day of the year so far in UP with mercury rising further by a couple of degrees in comparison to Monday. Maximum temperatures crossed 45 degrees Celsius at several places in the state. In fact, almost all the districts in the state recorded their hottest day so this season. No significant relief is likely on Wednesday.
If Lucknow reeled under 42.8 degrees Celsius maximum temperature, Allahabad was hottest in the state with 46.3 degrees Celsius followed by Banda with 46.2 degrees Celsius.

Agra sweltered under 45.8 degrees Celsius and Orai simmered at 45.5 degrees Celsius.
Maximum temperature touched 45.2 degrees Celsius in Hamipur and 45.1 degrees Celsius in Jhansi. Situation was no better in Kanpur with maximum temperature at 44.4 degrees Celsius and Mirzapur, Varanasi and Aligarh recording 44 degrees Celsius.
State MeT director JP Gupta said "Dry hot northwesterly winds coming from Rajasthan are dominating the atmosphere. The sky is also clear. Together the two factors are leading to rise in temperatures. Weather conditions will remain more or less the same, barring isolated places in east UP where thunderstorm may occur, on Wednesday."
